Charles Faulkner Bryan: His Life and Music

Recognized as Tennessee's first composer of art music, Charles Faulkner Bryan blazed many trails. Chai Folk Ensemble - The Chai Folk Ensemble from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is North America's oldest and largest Israeli folk dance ensemble. Founded in 1964 by the late Sarah Sommer, Chai has built an international reputation for international dance, music and song.

Ensemble Georgika - Formed in Tbilisi in 1989, the thirteen members of Ensemble Georgika, likely the first group of their kind to exist without government funding or support, grew up among a variety of Georgian folk music and ritual dances.

Music of Guangdong - In modern times, the Chinese province of Guangdong has become known for Guangdong music (later Guangdong folk tunes), a synthesis of a number of local folk music styles (like Kun opera), intended as an accompaniment for the region's folk operas when it arose along the Pearl River delta in the 1920s. It gradually evolved into a string ensemble format by the 1960s, led by the gaohu with ruan, qinqin, yangqin, sanxian and various woodwind and percussion.
