Letters from the Dust Bowl by Caroline Henderson,
Caroline Henderson's articles on the Oklahoma Dust Bowl began appearing in Atlantic Monthly in 1931, bringing national attention to the troubles of United States farmers. In Letters from the Dust Bowl, Alvin O. Turner has collected dust bowl 1930s and edited Henderson's published materials dust bowl 1930s and personal correspondence dating from 1908 to 1966. Turner supplements Henderson's work with a biographical essay dust bowl 1930s and discerning annotations to present a complete picture of this remarkable woman. Dust Bowl - The Dust Bowl, also known as the "Dirty Thirties", was a series of dust storms in the central United States, caused by a massive drought and decades of inappropriate farming techniques. Beginning in 1930 and lasting until 1941, this ecological disaster caused an exodus from the Oklahoma Panhandle region and also the surrounding Great Plains in which around 300,000 to 400,000 Americans were displaced.
